Về nghen con, về cùng cha một chuyến
Để biết quê nhà, nguồn cội thiêng liêng
Để biết tên làng tên thôn… tên huyện
Ngàn năm lưu trong máu từng người

Về nghen con, kẻo mai hối tiếc
Người xoá tên làng, biết tìm quê đâu
(Có thể đời cha, đời con còn biết)
Trăm năm sau, hỏi đất đá… cúi đầu

Con có biết bao người ly hương vội vã
Họ gánh theo những tên xã tên làng
Nơi đất mới vẫn mang hình hạt lúa
Che phận đời qua mưa nắng trầm luân

Về nghen con, lần này rồi có thể
Chuyện làng quê chỉ trầm tích trong cha
Nhưng với con là điều không thể
Dẫu nơi đâu cũng in bóng quê nhà…

Go back with me, dear son, for one trip
To admire our howntown, the roots of every blessing
To learn the names of village, hamlet, district
A thousand years remain in the blood of us

Go back with me or we would regret later
The village name might be erased one day
(Our generation could be able to remember)
But a hundred years later, stones stayed silent

Lots of people left hometown in a hurry
Carrying with them all the names from there
To the new land in the shape of a rice grain
Protects them from all the troubles and sufferings

Please go back, this time and it’s possible
That village story only accumulate in me
But for you it might be different
Though everywhere we go, hometown follows.
